Tangye "Soho" c 1875,
8" x 9" stroke, 16 hp. This engine was manufactured before the
Gold Medal was won at the 1878 Paris Expo. Its number, "9",
suggests it was one of the first to enter Australia. |

Marshall Portable engine 415, 1866. this is reputed
to be the oldest surviving Marshall product in the world and
the oldest documented portable in Australia. At 2.5 nhp
(11 kw) this diminutive engine worked at Bourke, NSW. |

| Orr and Sembower, c 1890, 8" x 8" 14 hp (11 kw)
bedless or split frame engine. Used in timber industry in Washington
and Oregon states to drive drag saw cutting logs into 16 foot
lengths to go on trains to the saw mills. The only operating
example in Australia. |
